"Living for Jesus"

Living for Jesus, a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.

Living for Jesus Who died in my place,
Bearing on Calvary my sin and disgrace;
Such love constrains me to answer His call,
Follow His leading and give Him my all.

REFRAIN

O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy atonement, didst give Thyself for me.
I own no other Master, my heart shall be Thy throne.
My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for Thee alone.

Living for Jesus, wherever I am,
Doing each duty in His holy Name;
Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
Deeming each trial a part of my cross.

Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
Bringing the weary to find rest in Him

My favorite old hymn of all time --
Not because I have arrived at the depth of meaning found in these lyrics
But because I long to be one who lives this way.
You could say this hymn is my personal mission statement,
the sum total of who I desire to be.
But, on a daily basis, is "my dearest treasure the light of His smile"? Nope, often I treasure uninterrupted time more than "the light of His smile." Often, I treasure my own ideas and opinions above "the light of His smile." To my shame, I sometimes treasure personal comfort and convenience over
 "the light of His smile."
But when I sing this song, when I see His face in Scripture -- I'm reminded of my reason for living, my purpose for existence, my goal in each day's routine and interaction --- it's "the light of His smile." What about you? What's your favorite song and how does it inspire you?
